Travel Story by Jonathan Reid

  Deaftravel Launch - London
London, UK

A captivated audience

An invited audience of 83 gathered at Daunt Bookshop in Central London to hear Deaftravel founders Ian Reynolds and Helga McGilp explain the philosophy behind the new website and how it would offer advice and tips to Deaf travellers.

Helga and Ian made it clear that Deaftravel would be a website shared by the Deaf community - "we want YOUR stories and YOUR experiences".

To prove the point, Ian told the audience of his amazing cruise to Antarctica (lots of penguins and taking a dip in freezing waters).

Not to be outdone, Helga had guests enthralled with tales of her tours in Mongolia and Nepal - where she met her travel hero Michael Palin!

The launch closed with questions from the audience, who went away well and truly bitten by the Deaftravel bug.
