Travel Story by Helga McGilp

  What's the sign for Prizren?
Prizren, Kosovo

Selman's family

Imagine a town in Britain signed (note: not named) after a well known Deaf campaigner? Here in Kosovo, Drita Toprlak describes how the sign for Prizren, a town two hours south of Pristine was named after Mr Josip Colakic who was instrumental in setting up schools, Deaf clubs and Deaf organisations in Kosovo from 1950 until he passed away in 1970.

The sign for Prizren was created because Josip had no fingers.
