Travel Story by Helga McGilp

  Deaftravel in Kosovo
Pristina, Kosovo

Helga was invited to give a presentation at the Organisational Training and Sign Language Development Project for the 11 Regional Deaf Clubs in Kosovo about Deaf women issues in December.

Colin Allen, the Organisational Advisor for the Kosovar Deaf Community Project funded by the Finnish Association of the Deaf and Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Finland, acted as a relay interpreter for this presentation.

In this clip, Helga explained to Kosovars that education in Cuba is free at all levels (i.e. university). There are no tuition fees paid by university students. Helga was amazed how much Deaf women in Cuba were able to explain the names and dates of all statues in Santa Clara. What are the chances of Helga explaining all the statues that currently stand in Scotland?
